We are pleased to announce that Smart City Circular Economy Solutions (SCCES), a subsidiary of ALBA Group Asia, has won the Hong Kong government tender for the Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) project. This landmark achievement positions SCCES at the forefront of environmental sustainability and reinforces our commitment to creating a greener future.
SCCES will oversee the installation and operation of 120 RVMs across strategic locations throughout Hong Kong. The RVMs will serve as collection points for used plastic beverage containers, promoting recycling and thus reducing plastic waste in the city.
“We are honoured to be awarded this prestigious government tender,” says Mr. Jakob Lambsdorff, CEO of Smart City Circular Economy Solutions Ltd. “This project aligns our mission to implement innovative solutions that addresses pressing environmental challenges. The introduction of state-of-the-art RVMs will not only be a testament to our commitment to environmental sustainability but also raise public awareness on the importance of greener lifestyle.”
To ensure effective implementation and adoption of the RVM system, SCCES will provide ambassador services to offer hands-on guidance to the public, educating users on how to use the RVMs effectively. Moreover, SCCES will establish a dedicated hotline to answer queries and guide the public on the proper usage of the machines. A user-friendly website will be launched to facilitate users to locate the nearest RVM sites efficiently, identify the types of bottles accepted, and access real-time updates regarding the project.
By encouraging public participation, the project has implemented an incentive system. For every plastic bottle deposited into the RVMs, users will receive HKD$0.10 of rebate. This incentive seeks to motivate individuals to actively engage in recycling efforts while giving them the opportunity to make a difference by donating their rebate to selected charities.
The first batch of RVMs is set to launch in December 2023 and will span over 26 months. SCCES will work diligently to ensure that the RVMs function seamlessly, while continuously raising awareness on sustainability and foster a world without waste.
