Celebrating One Year of Success with the RVM Project in Hong Kong

As we begin the new year, Smart City Circular Economy Solutions (SCCES), a subsidiary of ALBA Group Asia and operator of the Hong Kong government’s RVM Pilot Scheme Stage 3, is proud to share the remarkable achievements from our first year of operations.

In just one year, we have successfully collected over 60 million plastic bottles through our 120 Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs). This significant milestone lays a strong foundation for continued success in 2025 and beyond.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our partners, including venue owners, property management companies, equipment suppliers, recyclers, and others. Your steadfast support has enabled us to provide convenient and accessible bottle collection services across diverse and high-traffic locations in Hong Kong.

A special thank you to the citizens of Hong Kong for their enthusiastic participation, which has made this initiative so impactful. During our 6-day double incentive event in October, part of the 75th National Day campaign, we exceeded expectations by collecting 40% more bottles compared to the previous period.

At our recent celebration, Mr. Jakob Lambsdorff expressed appreciation to our partners and praised the team for their exceptional work. Mr. Kenneth Cheng from the Environmental Protection Department of Hong Kong SAR (EPD), our guest of honor, also acknowledged SCCES for our outstanding contributions. Since the pilot scheme’s inception four years ago, over 147 million plastic bottles have been collected, with SCCES accounting for 40% of that total in the past year alone.

As we step into the new year, we remain committed to continuing our collective efforts to reduce plastic waste in Hong Kong and further promote environmental sustainability.
