Recently, ALBA E-Waste Smart Recycling Pte Ltd, has been appointed by the National Environment Agency as the Producer Responsibility Scheme (PRS) Operator for electrical and electronic waste (E-Waste) for Singapore, from 1 July 2021 until 30 June 2026.
Regulated E-Waste will be collected for proper treatment and recycling. This includes:
- Information & Communications Technology (ICT) equipment
- Large Household Appliances
- E-mobility devices
- Light Bulbs and Tubes
- Portable Batteries
- Consumer Electric Vehicle Batteries
E-Waste collection avenues will be set up for the public and businesses. The collection points will include 500 E-Waste receptacles stationed island-wide at publicly accessible areas such as town centres, shopping malls, government buildings, Residents’ Committee Centres, community centres, supermarkets and retail outlets. Other avenues include collection drives, ad-hoc doorstep collection services and other organized collection events. Residents can find the relevant information through our website (www.alba-ewaste.sg) or via our ALBA STEP UP app.
The E-Waste collected are brought to our Logistics and Sorting Hub for sorting and weighing, before being sent to licensed recyclers. ICT equipment like laptops is sent to recyclers with data sanitization capabilities. These recycling processes meet the environmental, health and safety standards while guaranteeing maximum recovery of secondary raw materials.
